Jennifer Langrock, M.S., O.T.R./L., C.H.T., recently earned her accreditation as a Certified Hand Therapist through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. After meeting rigorous requirements, Langrock now holds the highest recognition in therapy for hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries, conditions and postoperative rehabilitation. Patients in need of specialized bone, joint and muscle treatment and therapeutic care are encouraged to call (860) 482-8539 to schedule a safe appointment in Torrington at 245 Alvord Park Road or in Bristol at 281 N. Main St.

The Certified Hand Therapist credential is earned by occupational or physical therapists who have at least three years of clinical experience. The credential also requires at least 4,000 hours of direct practice in hand therapy. Candidates must then pass a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder rehabilitation through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. With fewer than 7,000 Certified Hand Therapists in the world, the credential is recognized by professional organizations throughout the country as a benchmark for excellence in advanced upper extremity competency in therapeutic care.

“We are so proud of Jennifer and want to congratulate her on her achievement,” said board-certified, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon Dr. Douglas Wisch of Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates. “Certification in hand therapy is very difficult to attain, and it serves as a testament to Jennifer’s dedication to meeting the highest standards of her profession. Her advanced study and training will also help her better serve our patients, the priority we both share.”

Langrock graduated from James Madison University with her bachelor’s degree and earned her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Sacred Heart University. She is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. She is also certified as a Group Fitness Instructor by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America and a YogaFit Level One certified instructor. Langrock works closely with Dr. Wisch at Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates to provide patients with highly specialized treatment, rehabilitation and pre- and postoperative therapy.
