Dr. Jennifer D’Amico Offering Advanced Wound Care, Helping Patients Heal Faster

Jennifer A. D’Amico, D.P.M., fellowship-trained surgical podiatrist of Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates, has recently completed training and received certification from Healogics®, the nation’s leading wound care management company. This deepened expertise will enable Dr. D’Amico to expand her services to include a wider variety of techniques to treat and prevent wounds from chronic conditions. Since July, she has provided advanced wound care once a week at The Hospital of Central Connecticut Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at 22 Pine St., Suite 104, in Bristol. She remains available for consultation at Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates at 245 Alvord Park Road in Torrington and at 281 North Main St. in Bristol. Patients looking to schedule an appointment are encouraged to call (860) 482-8539.

The Healogics vision, coursework and practice involves an interdisciplinary methodology driven by providers with specialized training, as opposed to the traditional wound-driven approach to treat symptoms as they come. Training in Healogics better enables Dr. D’Amico to treat each patient as a whole patient, with a focus on long-term solutions in addition to compassionate, timely treatment for simple and complex wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers and pressure sores.

“As part of my commitment to remaining at the forefront of comprehensive care, I am excited to be able to expand the scope of my practice and help patients get relief from chronic wounds and prevent further damage and pain,” says Dr. D’Amico. “As a podiatric surgeon, I am dedicated to continually advancing my knowledge and skills in order to offer the highest level of foot and ankle care so I can help my patients get back on their feet quickly and safely.”

As a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. D’Amico’s expertise includes a wide variety of advanced procedures to treat injuries and conditions of the lower extremity. She specializes in arthritis, flatfoot, fracture care, pediatric foot and ankle deformities, trauma and wound care. She received her doctor of podiatric medicine degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City and then completed her residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital and Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Diego. Dr. D’Amico also completed a fellowship in limb lengthening and reconstruction at The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore followed by a surgical trauma fellowship in Bern, Switzerland.
